Started rereading the second ElfQuest novel the other day, and didn't get 10 pages in before this popped into my head... Quick sketch, no photo refs... I'm allllmost tempted to redo it with a photo ref, since I know there's a few anatomy issues that are bugging me.
My ORIGINAL OTP! Fantastic job Brandy, such a beautiful pose with these two
Thanks, Brianne! Didn't know you were a fan of EQ, too!
Oh yeah! EQ played such a big part in my early development as an artist! I was so inspired by those graphic novels and it was kind of my life from about the age of 12-17!
Sweet! This is teh awesome! Wendy would be proud!
Thanks! Would be cool to hear her thoughts on it. XD Guess I can always dream, lol
I'll have to remember to set up a journal should I ever get back to ComiCon San Diego. Wendy and Richard were regulars there before I went to med school. She called me the "Official San Diego Skywise..." although if there's someone who's willing to take the title, if they can make the costume, I'll pass the torch. (See my "Elves" motivator...it was one of the recent ComiCons, but the situation was so in character for Skywise.) Actually when I saw Fia's design, I thought it derived from EQ.
A lot of my early artistic development came from copying poses out of ElfQuest, so Wendy's style has had a very strong influence on me as an artist! I've developed my own style now, of course, but if you look at my elves... that beginning is obvious. I've never been lucky enough to meet Wendy & Richard, though once or twice I actually got a response from when I wrote in to the comics, ages ago... I treasured those letters. XD
